Beyonce Knowles' sister Solange has taken to twitter to reveal her first encounter with her niece Blue Ivy Carter, describing her as the ''the most beautiful girl in the world''.

The 'Halo' hitmaker gave birth to daughter Blue Ivy Carter - her first child with rapper husband Jay-Z - at the Lenox Hill Hospital in New York on Saturday (07.01.11) and proud aunt Solange took to twitter yesterday (08.01.11) to reveal her delight.

She tweeted: "The most beautiful girl in the world."

After initial confusion over the tot's name, with initial reports claiming it was Ivy Blue, Gwyneth Paltrow confirmed the correct moniker on the micro-blogging site.

The actress - who along with her husband Chris Martin is close friends with Jay-Z and Beyonce - wrote: "Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already. (sic)"

Following an inquiry from a confused user who wrote : "Is it ivy blue, or blue ivy? so confused", Gwyneth replied "It's Blue Ivy Carter!"

Jay - real name Shawn Carter - was by his wife's side as she delivered the tot via Caesarean section, after checking in under the pseudonym Ingrid Jackson and they are thought to have paid $1.3 million to rent out the entire fourth floor of the hospital.

Security was tight at Lenox Hill Hospital with staff reportedly being asked to turn in their phones and security cameras were covered with tape.

Brad Pitt injures knee

Brad Pitt is walking with a cane after suffering knee ligament damage in a fall while carrying his three-year-old daughter Vivienne.

The 'Moneyball' actor has been walking with a cane after sustaining ligament damage when he slipped whilst carrying Vivienne and put his body on the line to protect his child.

He explained: "I was carrying my daughter Vivienne down the hill and I slipped. It was either her or me."

Brad's partner Angelina revealed the actor's actions ensured the youngster escaped the tumble unscathed.

The 'Tourist' actress admitted she liked Brad's new adornment and insisted his injury has not slowed him down.

Speaking on the red carpet at the 23rd International Palm Springs Film Festival in California, she said: "I like the cane. He's not that kind of guy. He does everything still."

The brunette beauty - who raises six children with Brad - admitted she has also suffered injuries caring for their kids.

She recalled: "I think all parents get injured in the line of fire. When Maddox was young, I fell and hurt my elbow. It's a pretty common occurrence."

The couple were not planning on enjoying any after-parties at the festival because of their family commitments.

Angelina explained: "We are rushing back to the kids tonight. We have a birthday party in the morning with our daughter."
